• Engaging with us on social media

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) welcomes posts on our social media channels and we look forward to engaging with you online, provided that you:

    • Be respectful. Posts that are discriminatory based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex (including pregnancy and childbirth), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, family status, genetic characteristics, or a disability, and posts that are obscene, vulgar, life-threatening, or otherwise hateful, will be removed and may be reported to the social media channel provider, security services, or law enforcement.
    • Protect your safety and the safety of others. Posts containing personal attacks, harassment or abuse towards individuals will be removed and may be reported to the social media channel provider, security services, or law enforcement. Avoid posting personal information such as addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or other personal details.
    • Keep your posts relevant. We welcome constructive conversation and content that is related to the topics of discussion, including posts critical of the GTAA or Toronto Pearson. Unintelligible or irrelevant posts may be removed.
    • Don’t spread spam. Unsolicited commercial endorsements (i.e. spam) will be removed. Posts sent by anonymous users, posted by robot accounts, or are repetitive may also be removed.
    • Use Official Languages. If you post in a language that is not English or French and we cannot translate it easily, we may remove it until we can determine what it says.

If you disregard these rules, you may also be muted, blocked or otherwise banned from further participation in the GTAA’s social media channels.

    A note about terrorism

We operate the largest airport in Canada and one of the busiest airports on Earth. Posts to our social media channels threatening the security of Toronto Pearson, the lives of passengers, and the physical integrity of the aircraft that take off and land here will be removed immediately, investigated by GTAA officials and reported to law enforcement, and the GTAA will recommend criminal charges be laid pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada and will pursue the recovery of its costs, including if such posts were only made in jest.

    Really. Don’t do this.
